Charles Brainard Taylor Moore (* 1853 in Decatur , Illinois , †  April 4, 1923 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) was an American naval officer. Between 1905 and 1908 he was the military governor of American Samoa .

Career

Nothing is known about Charles Moore's youth and schooling. In 1873 he graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis ( Maryland ). He then went through a military career as an officer in the United States Navy . In 1911 he was promoted to rear admiral. In the previous decades he served on various Navy ships.

Between 1904 and 1908 he was the military governor of American Samoa. In 1911 he became the commander of the Naval Station in San Francisco . He later commanded the bases in the Philippines and Hawaii . He retired in 1915, which he spent in Decatur. He died on April 4, 1923 at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital.
