James Arthur Ewing

James Arthur Ewing (born around 1916 ) was an American politician . He was governor of American Samoa in 1952 and 1953 .

Career

There are almost no sources about James Ewing. His life data are unknown. It is only mentioned that he came from Youngstown , Ohio , which does not necessarily have to be his place of birth. Prior to his tenure as Territorial Governor, he was the chief executive of an Ohio-based steel company. In 1952 he was named governor of Samoa by President Harry S. Truman to succeed John C. Elliott . He held this office between November 28, 1952 and March 4, 1953.
