Jesse Rink Wallace (born July 7, 1899 in Beardstown , Cass County , Illinois , †  January 29, 1961 ) was an American naval officer. In 1940 he was the military governor of American Samoa for a short time .

Career

Jesse Wallace wrote in 1918 in the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis ( Maryland ) a. After graduating, he served as an officer in the United States Navy until 1952 . He achieved the rank of captain. Between July 30 and August 8, 1940, he was acting governor of American Samoa for ten days. He bridged the time between the departure of Governor Edward Hanson and the inauguration of his successor Laurence Wild . After the end of his tenure, he became Chief of Staff to the Commander of the Ninth Naval District, which had its headquarters in Illinois. He also took part in World War II . In 1952, Jesse Wallace retired. He died on January 29, 1961 and was buried in the Annapolis Naval Academy cemetery.
