Thomas Benjamin Fitzpatrick

Thomas Benjamin Fitzpatrick (* 1896 ; †  1974 ) was an American naval officer. In 1936 he was acting military governor of American Samoa for five days .

Career

Thomas Fitzpatrick was an officer in the United States Navy , where he achieved the rank of commander equivalent to a lieutenant colonel in the army. His officer status suggests a visit to a naval academy. Between January 15 and January 20, 1936, he was acting governor of American Samoa. He bridged the time between the outgoing governor Otto Dowling and the inauguration of his successor MacGillivray Milne . During the Second World War , Fitzpatrick commanded the warship USS Zeilin , which, among other things, landed troops during the Battle of the Gilbert Islands .

Nothing is known about Thomas Fitzpatrick's life data and further résumé. He died in 1974.
