List of medalists in balloon sport

The list of medalists in balloon sport includes all balloon athletes who have won medals at world and European championships in hot air ballooning . Competitions based on the guidelines of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) have been held since 2010.

1st FAI Women's World Hot Air Balloon Championship , March 8-13 September 2014
Venue: Leszno , Poland

  • Gold: Nicola Scaife, Australia - 2014 World Champion
  • Silver: Elisabeth Kindermann, Austria
  • Bronze: Agnė Simonavičiūtė, Lithuania

The runners-up were Dolly Deimling ahead of Elise Kloss from Germany, Nicole Vogel from Switzerland came 8th.

2nd FAI Women's World Hot Air Balloon Championship , 5th – 10th July 2016
Venue: Birštonas , Lithuania

  • Gold: Nicola Scaife, Australia - World Champion 2014 (8713 points)
  • Silver: Ann Herdewyn, Belgium (6992 points)
  • Bronze: Cheri White, USA (6680 points)

The runners-up were Ekaterina Larikova (Russia, 6441 points) ahead of the Lithuanians Agnė Simonavičiūtė (6433 points) and Daiva Rakauskaitė (6385 points). Elisabeth Kindermann from Austria (6319 points) came in 7th and Nicole Vogel (6290 points) from Switzerland came in 9th. The best German was Sylvia Meinl with 19th place and 5536 points.

3rd FAI Women's World Hot Air Balloon Championship , 6-11. August 2018
Venue: Nałęczów , Poland

  • Gold: Daria Dudkiewicz-Golawska, Poland (10875 points)
  • Silver: Agnė Simonavičiūtė, Lithuania (9663 points) - third place in the 2014 World Cup
  • Bronze: Nicola Scaife, Australia, (9287 points) - World Champion 2014 & 2016

Elisabeth Kindermann-Schön from Austria (8976 points) came in 5th, Astrid Carl (8269 points) from Germany on 8th and the Swiss Nicole Vogel (8295 points) on 9th place.

  • Bronze: Jolanta Matejczuk, Poland

The runners-up were Kristina Sunaitiene from Lithuania, Kristina Vevere from Latvia, ahead of Ewa Prawicka from Poland. The junior Elisabeth Kindermann from Austria came in 7th. The best German was Dolly Deimling in 12th. Switzerland was not represented.

  • Gold: Lindsay Muir, GB - European Champion 2012
  • Silver: Daiva Rakauskaitė, Lithuania
  • Bronze: Ann Herdewyn, Belgium

The runners-up were Elisabeth Kindermann from Austria and Dolly Deimling from Frankenthal. Gabriela Slavec, the European champion from 2010, finished 8th. The youngest balloon pilot was Agnė Simonavičiūtė from Lithuania, she finished 15th. Janet Haase from Switzerland finished 17th.

  • Gold: Ewa Prawicka-Linke, Poland - European Champion 2015
  • Silver: Daiva Rakauskaitė, Lithuania
  • Bronze: Elisabeth Kindermann, Austria

The competition was characterized by bad weather. Only seven tasks were set on three trips. The 4th place went to Beata Choma from Poznań, Poland. Agnė Simonavičiūtė was 5th. The best German was Sylvia Meinl in 10th. The Swiss Janet Haase was in 19th place.

2017 FAI European Championship

  • Silver: Agnė Simonavičiūtė, Lithuania
  • Bronze: Elisabeth Kindermann, Austria

The runners-up were Lindsay Muir (United Kingdom) ahead of the Lithuanians Daiva Rakauskaitė and Migle Vaittuleviciute. Kristine Vevere from Latvia finished 7th and was ahead of the best German Sylvia Meinl from Böblingen. A Swiss woman did not take part.

Team ratings

At the 2014 World Cup, the team cup went to Lithuania. A team ranking was created at the European Championship 2017, Lithuania won ahead of Poland, the United Kingdom and Germany.
