This is a list of cities in Benin .

By far the largest agglomeration in Benin is the region around the seat of government Cotonou , which also includes the capital Porto-Novo , with a population of 2,418,959 (as of January 1, 2006). This means that a third of the country's population is concentrated in the area.

The following table contains the cities with more than 20,000 inhabitants, the results of the census of March 15, 1979, February 15, 1992, February 15, 2002 and May 11, 2013. The department to which the city belongs is also listed heard. The population figures refer to the respective city in the narrower sense - the geographical urban area - not to the city or municipality in the political sense.
