Location of Pesterwitz in Freital

The list of streets in Pesterwitz contains all named streets of the district Pesterwitz of the large district town Freital in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains .

A total of 60 streets and squares are named in Pesterwitz, and there are also three district streets in the area around the town. These are Dölzschener Strasse, Dorfplatz, Dresdner Strasse, Erich-Hanisch-Strasse, Freitaler Strasse and Wurgwitzer Strasse. These traffic routes connect Pesterwitz with the surrounding Freital and Dresden districts. After 1990, large new housing estates emerged in the village, some of whose street names followed a pattern (for example, paths named after trees north of the village square or streets in the west of Pesterwitz named after local personalities).

Since the incorporation of Pesterwitz, there have been eight duplications of street names in Pesterwitz and the other districts of Freital with the same zip code and the same municipality name. This meant that mail that was not marked with “OT Pesterwitz” in the double street names only arrived with a delay. However, such a distinction is unusual, as double street names with the same zip code are a major exception. By resolution of the city council of January 16, 2014, Dresdner Strasse , Lange Strasse , Schulstrasse , Südstrasse , Wurgwitzer Strasse , Windbergblick and Zauckeroder Strasse were to be renamed Pesterwitz. The local council worked out suggested names. The streets Am Jochhöh kept their names in (Ober-) Pesterwitz and Niederpesterwitz - they were the eastern and northern access roads to the Jochhöhschlösschen . The renaming was completed on November 1, 2014.
