List of the natural spatial units in Saarland
This list of the natural spatial units in the Saarland reflects the higher-order natural spatial structure insofar as they are wholly or partially in the Saarland area. It is based on the natural spatial structure for Germany, as it has been carried out since the 1950s and presented in the Handbook of the natural spatial structure of Germany .
The different numbering of the two-digit main unit groups ( large regions 3rd order ) by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) 1994 is in brackets after the respective group.
The natural spatial main unit groups are further divided into main units (three-digit code); In single sheets 1: 200,000 , which are the follow-up publications of the manual, they were further broken down into sub, partial and basic units (decimal places).
There is also a newer, albeit coarser, classification based on Heinz Quasten, which only exists throughout the Saarland and is listed below. This has a maximum of one decimal place and is only somewhat compatible with the natural area numbering in the neighboring Rhineland-Palatinate in the main units. It is listed below.
