- The Neapolitan Jacopo Sannazaro publishes the pastoral romance Arcadia , which is considered the most excellent bucolic poetry in Italy.
- In Ming Dynasty China, the works Songshi yangsheng bu ( Family Song's Guide to Taking Care of the Physical ) and Songshi Zunsheng bu ( Family Song's Guide to Cultivating Life ) are published.
