Scientific works
- April 13 : Georg Tannstetter publishes the work Viri Mathematici quos inclytum Viennense gymnasium ordine celebres habuit . In this early approach to the history of science , the astronomers and mathematicians who worked in Vienna from 1384 to this point in time are presented in detail. Tannstetter presents extensive lists of her works for five of them, namely Johannes von Gmunden , Georg von Peuerbach , Johannes Regiomontanus , Johannes Stabius and Andreas Stiborius - the books in his library are also mentioned of the latter. A total of around 170 book titles appear in the Viri Mathematici on predominantly mathematical and astronomical subjects.
- In the work Der Bundtschu the printer Pamphilus Gengenbach reports on the Bundschuh movement and the peasant uprising under Joß Fritz .
- Symphorien Champier wrote Periarchon, id est de principiis Platonicarum disciplinarum omniumque doctrinarum .

- In the dispute with Johannes Pfefferkorn over the Talmud, Johannes Reuchlin publishes Epistolae clarorum virorum ( letters from famous men ) in which humanists such as Ulrich von Hutten , Crotus Rubeanus , Mutianus Rufus and Helius Eobanus Hessus take sides for his point of view.
- The Franciscan Thomas Murner , poeta laureatus of 1505 , publishes the work Ein andechtig Geistliche Badenfahrt . In it he describes a symbolic spa treatment in which Jesus Christ is depicted as a lifeguard, Murner as a patient and the bath as an allegory for penance.
- The Prayer Book of Maximilian I is the imperial Hofdrucker Johann Schönsperger d. Ä. printed on parchment in Augsburg . The prayer book contains a collection of various psalms , hymns , gospels and prayers in Latin. At Maximilian's request , the print, which was designed by Vinzenz Rockner based on templates from the imperial chancellery , is similar to a handwriting . The font is considered to be the preliminary stage of the Fraktur . The printed typeface is complemented by hand-made flourishes. The colored lines and the partially painted initials underline the impression of handwriting. Ten copies are being printed, five of which are still preserved today. A single copy is provided with marginal drawings by seven leading artists of the time, including Hans Burgkmair , Hans Baldung , Lucas Cranach the Elder. Ä. , Albrecht Altdorfer and Albrecht Dürer .

- May 1 : The geographer and historian Matthias von Miechow compiles a library directory for the Jagiellonian Library in Krakow.
- The richly illustrated Salbuch of the Naumburg Monastery is created.
- The Braunschweig chronicler Hermann Bote wrote the shift book around 1514 . In it he reports on the Brunswick classes , especially the uprising of 1488 under Ludeke Hollant , which he witnessed himself.
