- The Eidgenosse Glarean receives because of a Lobgedichtes to Emperor Maximilian I of this the poet crown as poet laureate .

- around 1512: The first surviving edition of Till Eulenspiegel is published.
Versepen
- Thomas Murner published in two German verses written, the fool's literature attributable satires : the Narrenbeschwerung and Schelmenzunfft . In the conjuration of fools , Murner refers directly to Sebastian Brant's ship of fools and sometimes also uses his illustrations.
- The medieval verse epic Orendel is published for the first time in Augsburg. A prose version will also appear at the same time . The work is supposed to stimulate the pilgrimage to the Holy Rock in Trier .

- Pietro Aretino published his first sonnets in Venice .

- The Portuguese pharmacist Damiano de Odemira publishes his bilingual chess textbook Questo libro e da imparare giocare a scachi et de le partite in Rome . The work will spread throughout Europe over the next few decades .
