Elizabeth "Liz" Parnov (born May 9, 1994 in Moscow ) is an Australian athlete of Russian origin who specializes in the pole vault .

Athletic career

Liz Parnov gained her first international experience at the Youth Oceania Championships 2010 in Sydney , where she won the gold medal with a skipped 3.95 m. She then took part in the first ever Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , where she won the silver medal with 4.25 m. In October she took part in the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi for the first time and was eleventh there with 3.95 m. The following year she won the silver medal at the World Youth Championships near Lille with a height of 4.20 m, as well as at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona the following year with 4.30 m. So she qualified for the Olympic Games in London , where she was eliminated without a valid amount in the qualification . Even at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014, she did not cross the entry level.

In 2017 she qualified for the World Championships in London, where she was eliminated with 4.35 m in the qualification . At her third Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast , she was fifth with a jump of 4.40 m.

In 2010, as well as in 2014, 2016 and 2017 Parnov became Australian champion in pole vault.

Personal

Parnov comes from a very successful family. Her father, who comes from the Ukraine, was active as a pole vaulter himself and coaches numerous Australian pole vaulters. Her mother Nadia was active as a hurdler. Her grandfather Valentin Tschistjakow was a hurdler at the 1964 Olympic Games, where her grandmother Natalja Alexandrovna Tschistjakowa won the bronze medal in the 400-meter run . Her aunt is Tatiana Grigorieva , who competes for Russia and Australia and has won numerous international medals. Her sister Vicky Parnov is also active as a pole vaulter and became the 2007 youth world champion. She graduated from Murdoch University with a degree in media and communication .
