Voigtsberg Castle

The origin of the former estate settlement Voigtsberg is the medieval hill castle Voigtsberg , which was built between 1232 and 1249 by the bailiffs of Straßberg . In 1249 "Eberhardus de Voitesberk" was mentioned in a document. The rule of the bailiffs in Straßberg lasted until 1320. In 1327 the castle became the property of the bailiffs of Plauen . In the Vogtland War in 1356 it fell to the Margrave of Meißen from the House of Wettin . In 1357 the Voigtsberg dominion was around Adorf / Vogtl. , Markneukirchen and the small office of Wiedersberg south-west of Oelsnitz enlarged. Voigtsberg Castle became the seat of the electoral office of Voigtsberg in 1378 . It was thus the administrative center of the southern Vogtland for almost 600 years. After being destroyed in the Thirty Years' War , Voigtsberg Castle was rebuilt as a palace in 1633.
