The Dacia Lodgy is a compact van produced by the Romanian car manufacturer Dacia . It is available as a five- and seven-seater. Dacia presented the model for the first time in March 2012 at the Geneva Motor Show ; the German premiere took place in early June 2012 at Auto Mobil International (AMI) in Leipzig. It was launched in the same month. In June 2012, the Lodgy 1.6 MPI 85 version was the cheapest model in this class, according to the manufacturer. The Dacia Lodgy is based on the further developed B platform of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, which also serves as the basis for the Dacia Logan MCV .

The Lodgy is produced in Tangier in the factory of the Moroccan car manufacturer Renault Tanger Méditerranée . It is considered to be the first car model that Dacia produces in large series for both the African and European markets. Until then, only vehicles were built from delivered parts kits in Tangier . With the production of the Lodgy, the plant developed into an important location for Dacia.

The Dacia Lodgy is available in five variants: Essential, Picnic, Celebration, Prestige and the stepway variant with an SUV look. The entry price for the Essential in Germany is 9,990 euros and the Prestige is 13,490 euros (Stepway: 14,290 euros).

Conception

According to the manufacturer, the name Lodgy is derived from the English lodge and is intended to refer to the spacious interior design of the vehicle. The car can be ordered with five or seven seats. The load volume of the five-seater varies between 817 and a maximum of 2617 liters. With the seven-seater it sinks to 207 liters with the maximum number of seats.

inner space

The Dacia Lodgy five-seater has a second row of seats with three seats, while the seven-seater has a third row of seats with two additional seats. Depending on the version, the second row of seats can be folded down asymmetrically in a ratio of 1/3: 2/3. The third row of seats can be completely expanded. With three rows of seats, a luggage space of 207 liters remains, with two rows there is already 827 liters. With two seats, the load volume is 2,617 liters. The low loading sill makes it easy to stow large or heavy loads. There are numerous shelves in the interior. Depending on the version, these offer a total of up to 30 liters of storage space.

Engines

There is a choice of gasoline and two diesel engines for the Dacia Lodgy . All three are in-line four-cylinder and meet the Euro 5 emissions standard. As of 07/2015, all engines will meet the Euro 6 emissions standard, the smallest gasoline engine has been replaced. Until 07/2015 it was the 1.6 MPI 85 engine with 61 kW (83 PS) known from the Dacia Logan MCV . According to the manufacturer, it consumes a combined 7.1 l / 100 km. In 2015, the base engine was replaced by the SCe 100, which complies with the Euro 6 standard. It has a displacement of 1.6 liters like its predecessor, but it has an output of 75 kW (102 hp) and has 16 valves instead of eight and a maintenance-free timing chain instead of the toothed belt to drive the camshaft . The combined standard consumption is 6.1 l / 100 km, which is one liter below that of the previous engine. A four-cylinder gasoline engine with direct injection (sales designation TCe 115) built according to the downsizing principle has also been available since autumn 2012 . With a displacement of 1.2 liters, it develops 85 kW (116 hp). In 2019, the basic petrol was replaced by the TCe 100 GPF. It still has an output of 75kW (102 PS) and is now somewhat more economical (5.9–6.0 l / 100km) thanks to a reduced displacement of 1332 cm³, direct injection and turbocharging. A more powerful TCe 130 GPF variant replaces the more powerful TCE 115 petrol engine.

The two turbo diesel engines with common rail direct injection each have the same displacement of around 1.5 liters, but different output. The 66 kW (90 PS) engine consumes a combined 4.2 l / 100 km, the 79 kW (107 PS) engine 4.4 l / 100 km. Since 09/2018 only the Blue dCi 115 with 85 kW (116 PS) has been offered, which is technically almost identical to the dCi 110. The top speed increases to 185 km / h.

safety

The passive safety of the Dacia Lodgy is based on a rigid, protective passenger cell, combined with programmed, deformable body structures at the front and rear that absorb energy in the event of an impact. In addition, the units and mechanical assemblies are arranged under the bonnet in such a way that in the event of a collision they promote the programmed deformation of the body structure and at the same time do not penetrate the interior.

A number of restraint systems are standard on board: three-point seat belts for all seats with belt force limiters at the front as well as front and side airbags for the driver and front passenger. The driver's seat belt also has a pyrotechnic belt tensioner. A warning signal sounds if the seat belts are not fastened on the front seats. In addition, a warning indicator lights up on the center console.

However, the Euro NCAP crash test in December 2012 showed clear weaknesses in the Dacia Lodgy in all tested situations (frontal crash, pole and rear impact, pedestrian protection). It was also criticized that an ESP was only built into all models as standard for the German market, but not for all of Europe, so an ESP in Switzerland cost 500 francs extra. Overall, the safety was rated three out of five possible points. An ESP has been installed as standard across Europe from the entry-level version since 2014.

Furnishing

The compact van is available in the equipment levels Essentiel, Picnic, Celebration and Prestige (in ascending order). A version ( Stepway ) with an SUV look is also being sold. All versions have hydraulic power steering, daytime running lights, ESP and the so-called comfort indicators, which light up three times after a single tap.

From the Picnic equipment upwards , central locking with radio remote control, the automatic cruise control Tempopilot and an on-board computer are standard. The Prestige version has, among other things, a rear parking aid (option for Celebration).

In the Lodgy, Dacia is offering a multimedia navigation system for the first time. The MEDIA NAV navigation system (option for Celebration, standard for Prestige) includes, on the one hand, an audio system with Bluetooth interface as well as USB and jack connection for playing files from external music carriers as well as an integrated navigation system with 7-inch (18-cm) Touch screen monitor.

The Stepway version mainly offers (in addition to the Prestige version) side skirts, flared fenders and wheel arch protection, as well as chrome elements for the front and rear apron and a glossy roof rail.

As an alternative, Dacia offers the Dacia Plug & Radio multimedia system for the Picnic and Celebration equipment with audio system, large monitor, MP3-compatible CD player, steering wheel remote control, Bluetooth interface as well as USB and jack connection.

Option packages

In addition to several individual options, such as seat heating for the front seats (option for Celebration and Prestige), Dacia has combined certain functional and comfort elements in so-called option packages. The Sound & Climate package with air conditioning and the Dacia Plug & Radio system is available for the Lodgy Picnic . The modularity package includes the height-adjustable driver's seat and the height-adjustable steering wheel (option for picnic, standard for Lauréate and Prestige). The seat package for picnics, celebrations and prestige offers the foldable and removable third row of seats including its own ceiling light and storage compartment as well as opening side windows at the rear for celebrations and prestige.
