In 1870 Borsig delivered 14 1B express locomotives to the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft . They had an inner frame and a raised fire box supported by the coupling axis .

The express locomotive for the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft was supplied by various manufacturers from 1873 onwards . The steam locomotives had a raised fire box and the steam dome was either in front of or behind the boiler of the locomotives . Since the vehicles proved to be reliable, some machines were taken over by the Prussian State Railways .

This tank locomotive was purchased by the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft especially for the branch lines . The vehicles, although they did well, were taken out of service towards the end of the 19th century .
