Lorenz Georg von Krockow

Lorenz Georg von Krockow (born January 6, 1638 , † October 14, 1702 ) was a Brandenburg-Prussian statesman.

Life

Origin and family

Lorenz George was a member of the noble family von Krockow . His parents were the kurbrandenburgische bailiff to Stolp and Schlawesowie since 1654 Erbschenk of the Duchy of Pomerania and the principality of Pomerania , Döring Jacob von Krockow (1611-1662) and Barbara, nee von Below from the house Peest (1609-1657). He married Sophia Hedwig, née Mardefelt (1662–1733), daughter of the Swedish Field Marshal Conrad Mardefelt (1610–1688). She was previously married to Major General Heinrich Hallard called Elliot (1620–1681) and Chamberlain Moritz Friedrich von Schwerin (1652–1686), and after him with Lieutenant General Johann Georg von Tettau (1650–1713). No children are known.

Career

Krockow studied in Leipzig and Heidelberg , after which he was first chamberlain to the Elector of the Palatinate . After just one year in this position, he was called to the court of Friedrich Wilhelm of Brandenburg and appointed court master to the Hereditary Prince Casimir Friedrich of Courland (1650–1698). Thereupon Krockow, meanwhile promoted to court and legation councilor , was sent as envoy to the Swedish court in Stockholm for five years . Further diplomatic missions took him to Denmark and to the election of Michael I as a king in Warsaw . In 1670 he was sent to France , England , Vienna , Hamburg and other princely courts. On January 26, 1677, he was appointed to the Brandenburg Government as a Real Privy Councilor . In 1678 he was appointed Chancellor of Western Pomerania and Cammin , with an annual salary of 1,027 thalers. In 1689 Krockow received the cathedral provost in Cammin . He was hereditary lord on Peest A and sat at Polzin .
