Lotto is the second music album by the German singer, composer and producer Stephan Remmler .

background

Remmler's second album was produced in the spring and summer of 1988. As with his debut album Stephan Remmler , Remmler used a large number of studios to produce his second album. He worked again in the audio studios in Berlin , in the Can studio in Weilerswist , in the Powersoundfactory in Vienna and above all in the Multi Studios in Rio de Janeiro . The stay of all musicians in Brazil was used to shoot music videos for almost all of the songs on the album with the Viennese production company DoRo Produktion . For example, the video for the single, Don't worry, my dad told me, was shot in the local football stadium Estádio do Maracanã . The video for a little while was shot on the beach in the district of Copacabana . In 1989 it was announced that all eight videos would be released on video cassette, which however never appeared in stores.

The title Lotto goes back to the dog that can be seen on the record cover. The dog accompanied part of the filming of the video One is always the loser and was called "Lotto".

The British band Status Quo can be heard as a guest musician on the song Drei Weiße Birrrken . In the song Bahia Angela Smecca sings the refrain with which Remmler had published the song Feuerwerk four years earlier when Stephan & Nina had published it.

Music and lyrics

In terms of content, Remmler's texts deal with everyday situations and relationship stories. For the first time, Remmler also presents a drinking song : In company (I like to have a drink in company) . While a large number of styles and genres were presented on his first album, the majority of the songs on Lotto can be assigned to the hit .

Most of the songs were composed by Remmler himself. A special feature is the song Eine ist immer der Loser , which is based on the composition Ana hat always des Bummerl by Horst Chmela .

The Lotto album received rather poor reviews overall. Christian Genzel from the music portal Allmusic criticized the lack of ironic distance that made Remmler's first album so attractive.

The album reached number 38 in the German album charts and number 30 in Austria. In Switzerland, the album did not make it into the charts at all. Of the total of four singles that were released, dad told me not to be scared and placed in the German single charts (15th place).

A previously announced German tour by Remmler was largely canceled due to poor pre-sales.
