Louis Ernst Eduard von Borstell (born July 9, 1812 in Kassel , † May 20, 1899 at Vosshoff) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

His parents were the general of the cavalry Karl Heinrich Emil Alexander von Borstell (1778-1856) and his wife Henriette Adelheid, née Freiin Oest called von Drießen (born September 10, 1783, † March 7, 1853). She was a daughter of the Russian Lieutenant General von Drießen.

Military career

Borstell came on March 6, 1830 as a Ulan in the 8th Uhlan Regiment . There he became a non-commissioned officer in 1831 and on October 14, 1831 Portepeefähnrich . On October 25, 1832, he was promoted to second lieutenant . From October 16, 1836 to September 30, 1838 was assigned to the teaching squadron. After his return, he was assigned to the Federal Fortress of Luxembourg with 60 horses from April 1, 1839 to September 12, 1839 , and was appointed regimental adjutant on November 1, 1859. From June 6th to August 10th, 1840, he was posted to Stockholm to accompany General von Borstell . Shortly before leaving on August 9, 1850, he was awarded the Sword Order by the King of Sweden . On September 13, 1842 Borstell came into the Guards Cuirassier Regiment and on March 15, 1845 was Prime Lieutenant . On November 5, 1846, he was transferred to the Guard Dragoons Regiment , where Borstell was Rittmeister and squadron chief on October 26, 1847 . On July 16, 1857, he was promoted to major , on April 15, 1856 , he was appointed regular staff officer and on May 18, 1858, he was appointed commander of the 8th Cuirassier Regiment . On January 2, 1859 he was Dragoon Guards Regiment set back as commander in that and there on May 1, 1859 Lieutenant Colonel and on 28 October 1861 Colonel promoted. Borstell was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III on January 18, 1863 for his services in the troop leadership . Class with a bow and was commissioned on January 29, 1863 under position à la suite of his regiment with the command of the 11th Cavalry Brigade . family

Borstell married Karoline Marianne von Lambert (* December 28, 1808), widowed Countess von Kesselstatt, in Stralsund on September 9, 1851 . She was born in Delph, Hungary and was the daughter of Captain Michael Anton von Lambert.
