Hans Ludwig Ernst von Preuss (born July 9, 1724 , † after 1780) was a Prussian major .

Life

Hans Ludwig Ernst was a member of the Pomeranian noble family von Preuss zu Zülzefitz , aftervasallen of the von Borcke . His parents were the Prussian captain and Herr auf Heydebreck Joachim Valentin von Preuss and Elisabeth von Steinbach from the Ebeneow family .

Career

Preuss began his career in 1738 as a cadet in Berlin and in 1742 became a flag boy in the Guards on foot . From 1743 he was an ensign in the regiment "Margrave Heinrich" . He was promoted in 1746 to second lieutenant , 1755 to first lieutenant and in 1759 only to staff captain , then to the real captain .

Preuss took part in the Second Silesian War and the Seven Years War . He was wounded off Prague and at Liegnitz he was so outstanding that the king gave him 500 talers. He continued to take part in the battle of Torgau and the sieges of Dresden and Ölmütz .

On July 6, 1773, Preuss was promoted to major and became the commander of a grenadier battalion , which was composed of two companies from regiments No. 33 and No. 42 . As such, he took part operationally in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On March 3, 1779, he was awarded the order Pour le Mérite for his work in the "Affair of Neustadt" .

In August 1780 he received his departure with a pension of 200 thalers .

Heydebreck, which he had inherited from his father together with his brother Carl Friedrich, he sold after a settlement with his sisters in 1777 to Chamberlain Friedrich Wilhelm von der Osten .

In 1763 Ludwig Ernst von Preuss married Helena Amalie von Wedel from the house of Ebeneow.
