Appreciations

Conduct in the time of National Socialism

Like his pupil Wintz in Erlangen, Seitz had forced sterilizations and abortions carried out in the Frankfurt University Women's Clinic during the Nazi era . He is also accused of campaigning for racial hygiene and its implementation. At the 23rd Congress of the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics under the direction of Walter Stoeckel in Berlin in 1933 , Seitz finished a series of presentations on the problem of interventions for eugenic reasons with a statement on methods, risks, safety and timing of sterilization as well as the problems the termination of pregnancy in women with hereditary diseases, a measure that was not yet provided for in the newly enacted law to prevent hereditary offspring.
