Ludwig Strackerjan

Peter Friedrich Ludwig Strackerjan (born August 20, 1825 in Jever , † March 4, 1881 in Oldenburg ) was a German writer , lawyer and politician.

Life

Ludwig Strackerjan was born as the son of the chief bailiff Christian Friedrich Strackerjan (1777–1848) and his second wife Sophie born. Brünings (1789–1863) born in Jever. The later Oldenburg headmaster Karl Strackerjan was his brother. He attended high school in Oldenburg and from 1843 studied theology and law in Jena . During his studies he became a member of the fraternity in the castle cellar in 1843 . In 1847 he passed the final legal examination and then entered the civil service in Oldenburg and worked as an auditor at various offices in the Grand Duchy . In February 1848 he became editor of the "Oldenburgische Zeitung", from 1856 he held the office of a provisional syndic and as such edited the "Gemeindeblatt" Oldenburg.

Strackerjan was appointed magistrate in Oldenburg in 1858 and judiciary in 1865 . In December 1872 he left the civil service to become a legal member of the board of directors of the Oldenburgische Spar- und Leihbank.

Since the 1860s, Strackerjan also dealt with state and local politics. As a representative of the right-wing liberal wing, he was a member of the Oldenburg city council. From 1860 to 1869 and from 1878 to 1879 he was a member of the Oldenburg Landtag , most recently as its president .

In addition to folklore and regional history articles in newspapers and magazines, Ludwig Strackerjan also wrote stories about Oldenburg and literature for children. He put on extensive collections of nursery rhymes, riddles, proverbs, sagas and barrel-organ songs , some of which he published or organized thematically. His main work is the two-volume collection Superstition and Legends from the Duchy of Oldenburg , the material of which he had collected using a questionnaire.

Strackerjan remained unmarried.

Honors

Strackerjanstrasse in Oldenburg has been named after the Strackerjan family since 1927.
