Ludwig von Türcke (General)

Ludwig von Türcke , since 1867 Freiherr von Türcke (born December 22, 1805 in Meiningen ; † November 1, 1878 ibid) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Ludwig was a son of Amalius von Türcke (1768–1846) and his wife Juliane, born Freiin von Wechmar (1776–1829). His father was a Saxon-Meiningian colonel , commander of Meiningen, castle captain and lord of the chamberlain .

Military career

On October 22, 1822, Türcke joined the Herzoglich-Meiningische Battalion as a cadet and in February 1823 was promoted to Second Lieutenant . From April 1, 1825, he was sent to Dresden for three months to learn the Saxon drill regulations . In 1842 he was appointed chamberlain and by July 1843 Türcke was promoted to captain and company commander . As such, he took part in the campaign against Denmark in 1849 . With the expansion of the battalion to a regiment , Türcke was given command of the 2nd battalion as a major in 1855 and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on July 15, 1859 in this position . On the occasion of the war against Prussia in 1866 he was a member of the occupation of Mainz fortress . Even before the peace agreement, he was commissioned on August 18, 1866, to lead his regiment and, on September 20, 1866, Türcke was appointed regimental commander while being promoted to colonel.

Duke Georg II elevated Türcke to the Saxon-Meiningian baron on April 10, 1867 . On September 25, 1867 he was taken over as a colonel with a patent from September 20, 1866 in the Association of the Prussian Army and aggregated to the 1st Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 31 . In approval of his resignation request , Türcke was put up for disposal on June 9, 1868 with the character of major general with the statutory pension .

After his death on November 4, 1878, he was buried in the Meiningen Park Cemetery.

family

Türcke married Karoline von Hoffmann (1807-1885) on April 17, 1834 in Rinteln . The following children were born from the marriage:
