Luiz de Araújo Guimarães Neto (born June 2, 1996 in Taquaritinga , São Paulo ), also known as Luiz Araújo , is a Brazilian soccer player who plays as a striker for Lille OSC .

Career

Luiz Araújo was born in Taquaritinga, São Paulo state, and played for Mirassol as a teenager. He was promoted to the first team in January 2013. In March he moved to São Paulo FC and played there for the reserve team.

On February 26, 2016, Luiz Araújo was loaned to Grêmio Novorizontino until the end of 2016 , after he was the top scorer of the U-20 Copa Libertadores 2016 . On March 19, he made his professional debut and played in a 1-1 draw against EC XV de Novembro (Piracicaba) in the regional championship.

Luiz Araújo returned to São Paulo in April 2016 and was immediately inducted into the first team. He made his Série A debut on June 5, replacing Ytalo in a 1-0 away win over Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte .

On June 4, 2017, Araújo played his last game for São Paulo FC in a 1-0 loss to AA Ponte Preta . Two days later he didn't train with the team to clarify the final details for his transfer to the French team OSC Lille.

He moved to the French for a fee of 10.5 million euros. He made his Ligue 1 debut on August 6, 2017 in a 3-0 home win against FC Nantes and scored his first goal on October 14 of the same year in a 2-2 win against ES Troyes AC .
