Mehmet Zeki Çelik (born February 17, 1997 in Yıldırım ) is a Turkish football player who has been under contract with the French first division club OSC Lille since July 2018 .

Career

society

At seventeen years old, Çelik is the youngest child of nine brothers. In 1995 his family emigrated from Mus to Bursa .

He started club football in 2008 in the youth department of Bursa Yavuz Selimspor and then played for the youth team of Bursaspor . In January 2015 he received a professional contract with the latter, but played the next half season exclusively for the reserve team. For the 2015/16 season he was loaned to the fourth division club Bursa Nilüferspor .

In the summer of 2016, his club gave it to the third division club İstanbulspor, including the transfer fee . Here Çelik established himself straight away as a regular player and rose with his club at the end of the season as a third division champion in the TFF 1st Lig , the second highest Turkish league division. After 68 competitive games and scoring three goals for İstanbulspor, Çelik moved to the French first division club OSC Lille in July 2018 .

National team

Çelik began his national team career in 2012 with seven appearances for the Turkish U16 national team. With this selection, he took part in the Caspian Cup tournament of the U16 juniors in 2013 and became the tournament winner.

After Çelik made his debut for the Turkish U17 national team in August 2013 , he played 12 games by May 2014. With the U17s he took part in the U-17 European Football Championship in 2014 , but was eliminated with her in the group phase against the two eventual tournament finalists. From March 2017 he also started playing for the Turkish U21 national team.

After he had been able to convince with his club for a long time, at the age of 21 he was nominated for the first time in his career by national coach Mircea Lucescu in two senior international matches in March 2018 for the squad for the Turkish senior team . Çelik made his debut for Turkey on June 5, 2018 against Russia.
