Lyndsey Scott (* 1984 ) is an American software developer and model .

Childhood and youth

Lyndsey Scott grew up in West Orange, New Jersey , the oldest of four children. She started martial arts when she was nine . Her father was employed by the National Security Agency as a programmer and started a health care company. He died of leukemia in 2017 .

In the early years of her schooling, she was the only black woman in her school and was exposed to bullying that continued into high school .

She attended Amherst College theater, economics, and physics seminars before enrolling in computer science and theater there , earning a double degree in 2006 . In the 400-meter run she was in the All America selection . She has a black belt in Taekwondo .

Career

At the beginning of her modeling career, she lived on Roosevelt Island in New York City .

According to her own statements, the beginning of her modeling career was difficult. She was advised not to give her age truthfully when inquiring about contracts. In the first years of her modeling career, she stated 1990 as the year of her birth. It wasn't until she uploaded a picture of herself to models.com in 2008 that she was contacted by the New York City agency Click Model Management . In 2009 she was contacted by Calvin Klein while distributing flyers . She became the first African American catwalk model to be exclusively contracted with Calvin Klein. This was followed by further assignments at Vera Wang , DKNY , Fendi , Gucci , Louis Vuitton and at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2009. She was a cover for magazines for the Italian Elle and Teen Vogue . She ran for Prada at New York Fashion Week in 2010 . She then switched the agency to Elite Model Management .

Software development

Lyndsey began programming games on the TI-89 calculator in middle school at the age of twelve . At college, she learned the programming languages Java and C ++ and MIPS architecture and learned self-taught Python , Objective C and iOS .

She has a profile on Stack Overflow , a question-and-answer community on the subject of programming, which, with over 400 questions answered and the 20,000 reputation points gained as a result, belongs to the top two percent of users. She is the author of iOS programming tutorials on RayWenderlich.com, a representative of Code.org's second Hour of Code initiative , mentor of NPO Girls Who Code and of Girl Scouts in Los Angeles who wanted to learn to code.

Applications / apps

Their first published app, which was published in cooperation with two other students, is Educate! . Their second published app is iPort , which aims to help models manage their portfolio in digital form. According to her own statements, since then it has helped her to do without folders that she would otherwise have to carry around with her. Their fifth app, Code Made Cool , is a learning application that is designed to introduce users to programming using drag & drop .
