Mäckelsdorf is a district of Waldkappel in the Werra-Meißner district in northern Hesse .

Mäckelsdorf is located in northern Hesse, southwest of Waldkappel in the geo-nature park Frau-Holle-Land (Werratal.Meißner.Kaufunger Wald) in a side valley of the Schemmergrund. State road  3227 runs through the village .

The place was first mentioned in 1392 under the name of Meckelsdorf . In 1939 the place had 146 inhabitants.

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , Mäckelsdorf came to the city of Waldkappel on February 1, 1971. Before that, the place belonged to the district of Eschwege .
