Eltmannsee is the smallest district of Waldkappel in the Werra-Meißner district in North Hesse .

Geographical location

Eltmannsee is located around six kilometers southwest of the Waldkappel core town. The Ziegenküppel with an observation tower rises about 2.5 km to the northeast and the area rises to the Stölzinger Kuppe to the southwest . The village was first mentioned in 1278 under the name Eltwinzse . In the middle of the village lies the Eltmannsee, which is about six meters deep and which gave the place its name.

In the course of administrative reform in Hesse Eltmannsee was powerful state law on 1 January 1974 in the city of Waldkappel incorporated .
