In 1650 the Landgraviate of Hessen-Kassel bought the baronial half of the town. As "Mengedorf", in which the Landgraves of Hessen-Kassel and the Lords of Boyneburg had possessions, the place belonged to the office of Bischhausen since 1654 . Since 1821 the place belonged to the Eschwege district .

In 1939 the place had 231 inhabitants. In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , Kirchhosbach came to the city of Waldkappel on December 31, 1971. Before that, the place belonged to the district of Eschwege . Since 2009, a new village community center has been opened as part of the village renewal. This is considered to be the cultural center of the village.
