Rechtebach is a district of Waldkappel in the Werra-Meißner district in North Hesse .

Geographical location

Rechtebach is located in the Stölzinger Mountains about 3 km (as the crow flies ) south of the Waldkappel core town on the Rechtebach, a small tributary of the nearby Schemmerbach . The goat club rises a little to the southwest and the Mäuseberg to the north-northeast , each with an observation tower. District road 29 (Waldkappel / Friemen - Thurnhosbach ) leads through the village .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1320, when the place fiefdom of the county of Ziegenhain was owned by the Lords of Boyneburg . After 1440, half of the town was a Hessian fiefdom of the Lords of Boyneburg- Stedtfeld , the other half was the fief of the Barons of Bemmelberg, a line of the Boyneburgers, and was ceded to Hesse in 1660. As "Mengedorf", in which the Landgraves of Hessen-Kassel and the Lords of Boyneburg had possessions, the place belonged to the Landgrave's Office of Bischhausen since 1654 . Since 1821, Rechtebach has belonged to the Eschwege district .

In 1939 the place had 105 inhabitants. In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , Rechtebach came to the city of Waldkappel on October 1, 1971. Before that, the place belonged to the district of Eschwege .
