The Schemmerbach , also called Schemmer , is a 10.9 km long, southwest and orographically right tributary of the weirs in the Werra-Meißner district in the northeast part of northern Hesse ( Germany ).

course

The Schemmerbach rises in the southwest part of the Werra-Meißner district in the Stölzinger Mountains . Its source is located southwest of Stölzingen , an estate in the southwestern urban area of Waldkappel . Around 1 km west of the Stölzinger Kuppe ( 473.9  m above sea  level ) it flows near the state road  3226 from a small still water at around 387  m above sea level.

Initially, the Schemmerbach, which runs entirely along the L 3226 in the Schemmerbachgrund natural area, flows north-northeast to Gehau , a south-eastern district of Waldkappel. After flowing through the village, the flowing water continues in the Waldkappeler area, northwards to Schemmern , from where it flows northeast to Burghofen . From now on , the route of the disused Spangenberg –Waldkappel section of the Kanonenbahn runs west above the stream that is now striving towards Friemen .

Finally, the Schemmerbach opens directly after flowing through the forest Kappeler Kernstadt to approximately 225  m height in the Werra influx weirs .
