  • Canned food is rationed in the US (by the US Office of Price Administration)
  • Berlin : 486 people die and 377 are seriously injured in air strikes by the Royal Air Force and the US Army Air Force.
  • Koriukivka (in northern Ukraine ): Mass murder: 6700 residents are murdered by SS units
  • Helsinki : Risto Ryti (1889–1956), beginning of the second term as Finnish President (until 1944)

  • Moscow : The Soviet Union rejects the request of the Polish government-in-exile to restore the common border of 1939 and claims the territory it occupies.
