action

A woman's corpse hangs on a rope over the river on the so-called old Main Bridge in the film . The rope is tied as a butterfly knot and the corpse smells of rose oil. The chief detective Julia Durant recognizes the pattern of Dietmar Gernot, a serial killer who she arrested years ago and who is still in prison. She believes that despite his imprisonment, he has something to do with the murder. The university professor and a good friend of Durant's Dr. However, Thomas Holzer, who supports Durant and her team in the investigation, assumes an imitator.

When a missing person turns up a short time later, Durant and her team are hoping for a promising lead. But the young woman is not responsive, but completely distraught and dies after a collapse of her nervous system. White torture , psychological torture without physical injuries, is the cause of death. After another editor disappears, Julia Durant suspects that she may be the reason for the series of kidnappings. She discovers that her psychotherapist is a link with the victim. The serial offender deliberately lays down traces to bring Julia Durant into his power, for example he looks for a Catholic priest in the confessional who loves the editor and gives him Julia Durant's phone number.

The perpetrator kidnaps Julia Durant and takes her to a hiding place in the Offenbach barrage , where she meets the kidnapped editor. The editor is released by the perpetrator and reappears a little later in the church where the Catholic priest works. Julia Durant gets involved with the perpetrator Dr. Thomas Holzer, who wants to drown her in a kind of aquarium. In order to break her psychologically, he took possession of her psychotherapy files, which her colleagues Markus Schulz and Felix Dombrowski discovered. However, she is saved in time by her two colleagues. She introduces Dr. Thomas Holzer in a lecture, who is arrested there by the two colleagues.

reception

criticism

The thriller was staged grippingly for Tilmann P. Gangloff . The thriller leads to a finale, which is rare in a German television film in this intensity. Gangloff again praises Sandra Borgmann as Julia Durant. She embodies the main role with a delightful mixture of hurt and strength. The identification with the main character is completely different than in conventional detective crime novels and brings the film closer to the opening film ( young, blond, dead ) of the series. Gangloff also criticizes once again that the character of Commissioner Markus Schulz, as in the two previous films, does not fit into the ensemble. Guido Broscheit , who embodies Schulz, deserves better game material.

In the program magazine TV Spielfilm , the film is rated as a “stylish, entranced psycho crime”. Like the previous films, the film focuses on cool looks, but is also thick. Borgmann as a commissioner is a bomb.

Audience rating

The free TV broadcast on Sat.1 on November 11, 2019 reached 1.45 million viewers, corresponding to a market share of 4.8 percent. 0.49 million viewers came from the advertising-relevant target group of 14 to 49 year olds. This corresponded to a 5.3 percent market share.

Trivia

Holy Cross Church in Frankfurt-Bornheim

Some scenes were filmed in and in front of the Holy Cross Church of the Center for Christian Meditation and Spirituality in Frankfurt - Bornheim am Bornheimer Hang . For the shooting, the film team set up chairs with black seats and backrests in the interior of the church, as well as a specially made confessional , which incorporates design elements and color schemes from the doors of the church. Further scenes were filmed on the large flight of stairs in front of the church. Inside the church, for example, you can see the mural of a grave scene in the entrance area, the organ and the confessional as a film set. The outside staircase and the houses of the Bornheimer Hang settlement opposite in Ortenberger Straße can be seen several times . Drone images of the tower building were also used.
