history

Mühlgraben, called "Malomgódór" before 1921, was an independent municipality until 1970. From 1971 to 1992 the community was part of Neuhaus am Klausenbach . A settlement book shows that the place was first named in 1387 with the name "Mechnuk". The place name probably owes its origin to a trickle with a mill. Further names can be found in the settlement name book: 1555 “Milihgrom”, 1660 “Melgrob”, 1698 “Milgrom” and since 1751 “Mühlgraben” ( Urbar von Neuhaus am Klausenbach).

In 1958, the construction of a primary school began in Mühlgraben, which was completed a year later. It was only at this moment that the community began to grow together; The local children used to be taught in schools in the surrounding communities. In 1973 the construction of a sports field began in Mühlgraben. In 1985 the Mühlgraben kindergarten group was established as part of the Neuhaus am Klausenbach kindergarten. In 1991 the kindergarten was closed again. This measure was probably ultimately the reason for a renewed separation from the large community of Neuhaus. At the initiative of the parents' association, the kindergarten was rebuilt and reopened as a private kindergarten in autumn of the same year. After the municipal separation, the municipality took over the business again. Since January 2003, the municipality has had its own municipal administration again (including the registry office) after the previous administrative partnership with Neuhaus am Klausenbach.
