from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The MDR Literature Prize was awarded annually from 1996 to 2015 by the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk . Three jury prizes (5000 euros / 2000 euros / 1500 euros) as well as an audience award endowed with 1000 euros were awarded .

The MDR literary competition started in 1996 with 228 short stories submitted; in 2011, 2180 writers from all over Germany and other countries took part.

The last award so far was in 2015. For the twentieth anniversary, the award was suspended in order to “rethink the competition and revise the procedure”.
