The importance of transporting short timber has increased steadily due to the changes in wood processing in the 20th century. The challenge lies in the fact that, on the one hand, the timber transporters have to be robust and stable for use in forest areas, but on the other hand they must also be able to move a maximum of payload on the road in order to ensure the economy of the vehicles. Combinations of truck and trailer have become established worldwide, including the MZKT-6903, which is offered by the manufacturer with the four-axle drawbar trailer MZKT-61011. In this way, a fully loaded truck combination has a total weight of 67.8 tons. The short timber is loaded using a hydraulically driven OMTL-70-0 loading crane .
