The MZKT-7429 ( Russo МЗКТ-7429 ) is a heavy truck with four-wheel drive of the Belarusian manufacturer MZKT (Russian Минский завод колёсных тягачей shortly MZKT or МЗКТ, in German Minsk Radschlepperwerk ). The four-axle truck has been produced in different versions since 1989 and is designed for pulling semi-trailers with a total weight of up to 97 tons. The vehicle is used both militarily - as a tank transporter - and civilly.

Vehicle history

The Minsky Sawod Koljosnych Tjagachei began manufacturing the MZKT-7429 in 1989. It is designed for a gross vehicle weight of 44 tons and can pull trailers with a total weight of 70 tons. Like many of the manufacturer's other vehicles, this truck also has all-wheel drive, and all four axles have individual tires.

A V8 four-stroke diesel engine of the type JaMZ-8424.10, which is manufactured in the Jaroslawski Motorny Sawod , serves as the drive for current models from civilian production . With a displacement of 17.24 liters, it develops 470 hp (346 kW) and has a nominal torque of 1864 Nm. The truck has a mechanical gearbox with nine forward gears and one reverse gear, also from JaMZ. The brake system works with compressed air, and an engine dust brake is also installed. The cabins of the older versions correspond to those of the MAZ-5336 from the Minski Avtomobilny Sawod . They are also used in the same look on other trucks from the manufacturer. Inside there are two seats and two beds. The more recent military versions use completely redesigned cabs.

The military variants of the truck are technically designed for a payload (fifth wheel load) of up to 27 tons with a dead weight of around 27 tons. If the vehicle is fully loaded, the rear axle load is 15.7 tonnes, which is more than what is permitted on public roads in Germany, for example. The permissible axle load of the MZKT-999430 semi-trailer, which is used in conjunction with the vehicle, is even 23.4 tonnes. Like other tractor units from the manufacturer, the truck is wider than three meters and thus significantly exceeds the dimensions permitted for commercial vehicles in the European Union .

With the MZKT-7401, MZKT offers a technically similar vehicle in the civil sector, but it is smaller and equipped with a weaker engine.

Model variants

Over the course of almost 30 years of production, new versions of the vehicle have been created again and again; they are identified by additional digits at the end of the type designation. The following list does not claim to be complete.

  • MZKT-7429 - basic version with Russian engine and 470 hp, built since 1989, now also known as MZKT-742900 .
  • MZKT-74291 - Latest version with 600 HP and up to 90 tons of payload.
  • MZKT-74295 - Version built from 1996 with a Mercedes-Benz engine . 130 copies were delivered to the Turkish armed forces .
  • MZKT-742952 - Version built from 1998 with Deutz engine and 544 hp. Designed for a payload of 50 tons.
  • MZKT-742953 - Version built since 2000 with a new cabin for six people and a payload of 70 tons. A Mercedes-Benz OM 444 LA is used as the engine.
  • MZKT-74296 - Version with Deutz engine (544 HP) and new cabin, tractor-trailer truck designed for 59 tons of payload (104.5 tons of gross vehicle weight).
