The MZKT-7401 ( Russo МЗКТ-7401 ) is a heavy truck with four-wheel drive of the Belarusian manufacturer MZKT (Russian Минский завод колёсных тягачей shortly MZKT or МЗКТ, in German Minsk Radschlepperwerk ). The four-axle truck has been in production since 2004 and is designed to pull semi-trailers with a total weight of almost 70 tons. The vehicle is used militarily as an armored transporter as well as civil.

Vehicle history

The Minski Sawod Koljosnych Tjagachei began manufacturing the MZKT-7401 in 2004. It is designed for a gross vehicle weight of 43.8 tons and can transport trailers with a total weight of 69 tons. Like many of the manufacturer's other vehicles, the truck has all-wheel drive and all four axles have individual tires.

A V8 four-stroke diesel engine of the type JaMZ-7511.10, which is manufactured in the Jaroslawski Motorny Sawod , serves as the drive for the current examples . With a displacement of 14.86 liters, it develops 400 hp (294 kW) and has a nominal torque of 1715 Nm. It meets the Euro 2 emissions standard and is designed for a service life of 800,000 kilometers. The truck has a mechanical gearbox with nine forward gears and one reverse gear. The braking system works with compressed air and is equipped with ABS. The cabins were supplied by Minski Avtomobilny Zavod and correspond to those of the MAZ-5336 . They are also used in the same look on other trucks from the manufacturer. Inside there are two seats and two beds.

The trucks are technically designed for a payload (fifth wheel load) of 27 tons with a dead weight of around 16.7 tons. If the vehicle is at full capacity, the rear axle load is 12.6 tonnes, which is more than what is permitted on public roads in Germany, for example. The axle load of the MZKT-937830 semi-trailer, which is used in conjunction with the vehicle, is as much as 23 tons. Unlike other tractor units from the manufacturer, however, the truck is a maximum of 2.55 m wide and therefore does not exceed the dimensions permitted for commercial vehicles in the European Union .

MZKT now offers similar vehicles with more modern engines and cabins. In addition, the MZKT-7429 is a technically similar vehicle, but it is larger and equipped with a more powerful engine.
