MacMillan "Mac" Carruth (born March 25, 1992 in Salt Lake City , Utah ) is an American ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with the Lausitzer Füchsen in the DEL2 since July 2019 .
Career
Carruth was drafted on 2010 by the Chicago Blackhawks while he played for the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League and became their first goalkeeper. On May 24, 2012, he signed a three-year contract with the organization valued at $ 750,000 per year. He initially stayed with the Winterhawks and was even elected to the WHL All-Star Team of 2013 due to his performance. During his time with the club, he also broke various franchise records and also won the 2013 WHL championship.
From the 2013/14 season he played in the Blackhawks' farm teams in ECHL and AHL . In the following season he was voted ECHL goalkeeper of the month for January, but still failed to make a permanent leap into a higher league. After his contract with the Blackhawks expired, no agreement for an extension could be made. However, he stayed in the organization and signed a one-year contract with their farm team Rockford IceHogs from the AHL, where he performed well. In February 2016, he agreed with the Blackhawks on another contract, which was renewed again in June, but never played for the NHL team. Carruth, however, was unable to build on the good preseason and left the organization in 2017 as a free agent . In September he played a tryout with the Providence Bruins, which, however, did not result in a contract.
In October 2017, Carruth finally signed a one-year contract with Fehérvár AV19 from the multinational Erste Bank ice hockey league , where he succeeded Mark Visentin . In the meantime, his contract has been extended by one season.
Achievements and Awards
- 2013 WHL West First All-Star Team
- 2013 Ed Chynoweth Cup win with the Portland Winterhawks
