Christopher "Chris" Straube (born May 27, 1974 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian - German ice hockey coach and former player who became German champion with Mannheim in 2001 and played two World Cup tournaments with the German national team.
Player career
The 1.88 m tall winger began his career at EC Hedos Munich , for whom he played his first Bundesliga games in the 1993/94 play-offs and with which he was the last German champion of the old Bundesliga. Even after the founding of the DEL , the left-shooter was on the ice for the Munich team, now with the professional team Maddogs Munich , which was outsourced by EC Hedos . After their withdrawal from the new German professional game class during the premiere season 1994/95 , Straube moved to the Adler Mannheim .
For the 1996/97 season , the striker signed a contract with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers , for which he played for a total of three seasons and then returned to Mannheim. In 2001 Straube won the German Championship with the Eagles , and during the following season he moved to the Augsburg Panthers . Straube's last DEL station so far was the Iserlohn Roosters in the 2003/04 season . From 2004 Chris Straube played in the 2nd Bundesliga , first for SC Bietigheim-Bissingen and from the 2006/07 season for the Lausitzer Füchse .
Chris Straube left the Lausitzer Füchse on November 1st, 2007. After his guest appearance in the ECHL , he moved back to Germany and laced his skates for the Heilbronner Falken in the 2nd Bundesliga from January 2008 to the end of the 2007/08 season . From the 2008/09 season , Straube played again with the Lausitzer Füchsen in Weißwasser, but could not agree on a new contract with the club in the summer of 2010. After four games ( try-out ) for the Dresdner Eislöwen , he moved to the top division Moskitos Essen for one season in November 2010 . For the following season he will return to the Lausitzer Füchsen. Although Straube became the top scorer of the Füchse in the 2011/12 season on par with Mark Derlago and Matt McKnight and wore the Golden Helmet for several weeks , he did not get a new contract due to the intended rejuvenation of the team and moved to the REV Bremerhaven in 2012 in the league , where he ended his playing career after the season.
International
After his naturalization, the native Canadian played for the German national ice hockey team in the 1998 and 2000 World Championships and scored one goal and three assists in these 13 World Cup games . In 16 other games in the national jersey, he scored 5 times and was involved in another goal.
