Dirk Rohrbach (born July 30, 1972 in Weißwasser ) is a former German ice hockey player . Since 2006 he has worked as an assistant trainer , from the beginning of the 2009/10 season to December 2015 as a trainer for the Lausitzer Füchse .

Career as a player

Rohrbach learned to play ice hockey in the youth teams of ES Weißwasser , with whom he played in the Junior Bundesliga in 1992/93. In the 1992/93 season he played for the professional team of the ESW in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga , switched to the league competitor EC Hanover the following season . After several seasons at Herner EV and ETC Crimmitschau , he returned to Lusatia . Except for the 2003/04 season , which he had to suspend due to injury, he played for the Lausitzer Füchse in the 2nd Bundesliga until 2006.

Career as a coach

After his playing career, which ended prematurely due to several injuries, Rohrbach was next to coach Fred Carroll first player advisor for the Lausitzer Füchse , later Thomas Popiesch's assistant coach at the Lausitzer Füchsen and since his departure to permanent rival Dresdner Eislöwen since the 2009/10 season himself was a coach. In his first season he reached the play-offs with his team through victories over the Eislöwen and only failed at the later champions and DEL promoted EHC Munich . Despite a losing streak of 19 games and a 10-point deficit in last place in the main round, he and his team were able to finish the 2010/11 play-downs without defeat in his second coaching season and thus keep the class. In the four following seasons of the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga - since 2013/14 DEL2 - he reached the play-offs with his team. On December 15, 2015, his contract with the Lausitzer Füchsen was terminated by mutual agreement after a series of defeats that led the sports club to the penultimate place.

Rohrbach has been the sole managing director of Lausitzer Füchse since January 2017, previously there was a second managing director in Matthias Kliemann .
