Bradley Ross (born May 28, 1992 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey player who has been playing in the DEL2 for the Lausitzer Füchse since January 2020 .
Career
Brad Ross played in his hometown of Lethbridge until 2008 for various youth teams , including the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League and the Alberta Midget Hockey League . In the summer of 2007, he was selected in the WHL Bantam Draft in the first round in fifth place by the Portland Winterhawks . Ross made his debut in the Western Hockey League at the end of the 2007-08 season when he played three games. He was then an integral part of the Winterhawks for the next four years. In the 2009/10 season , Ross received most of the league with 203 penalty minutes. In his last two seasons, Ross was assistant captain of his team and reached the final series of the Ed Chynoweth Cup in 2011 and 2012 . There he was defeated, however, with the Winterhawks, the Kootenay Ice and the Edmonton Oil Kings . In the 2010 NHL Entry Draft , Ross was selected in the second round in 43rd place by the Toronto Maple Leafs .
In March 2012, Ross signed a three-year entry level contract with the Maple Leafs. In the following three years he played mainly in the American Hockey League for the Toronto Marlies . There, his points yield, compared to his junior days, fell sharply, as he was mainly used in the third and fourth row. Ross also completed 26 games in the ECHL for the Idaho Steelheads and Orlando Solar Bears , in which he was able to record seven goals and ten assists. In January 2015, a blood test found a prohibited substance and Ross was banned from playing 20 games. He had not adequately checked the ingredients of a drug and apologized publicly.
Ross moved to the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League in May 2015 . He signed an annual contract with an option. A month later, the Maple Leafs gave his NHL rights, including a four-round vote for the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, to the Edmonton Oilers , who in turn sent Martin Marinčin to Toronto.
Until 2017 he worked in the DEL for the Iserlohn Roosters. After two years he moved to the Heilbronner Falken in the DEL2 . After the 2018/19 season, he returned to the ECHL and played for the Fort Wayne Komets .
At the turn of the year 2019/20, the Lausitzer Füchse announced their commitment.
Personal
His older brother Nick Ross is also a professional ice hockey player and plays as a defender .
Parts of his family come from Dortmund.
