Madhav Kumar Nepal ( Nepali माधवकुमार नेपाल ; born March 12, 1953 ) is a Nepalese politician ( CPN-UML ). He is chairman of his party and was Prime Minister of his country from May 2009 to June 30, 2010.

Life

Nepal was nominated as a candidate for Prime Minister in 2009 by an alliance of 22 parties, representing 350 of the 601 seats in parliament. Nepal was the only candidate. Previously, the Maoist Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (known as Prachanda ) resigned from his post on May 4 following a dispute over the army chief with President Ram Baran Yadav . The Maoists boycotted the election and did not put forward a candidate of their own.
