Nagendra Prasad Rijal

Nagendra Prasad Rijal ( Nepali नगेन्द्रप्रसाद रिजाल ; * April 1927 in Dhankuta , Nepal ; † September 23, 1994 ) was a Nepalese politician who was not party to any party and was acting Prime Minister of Nepal from 1973 to 1975 and briefly in 1986 .

Life

Rijal was appointed Minister of Trade and Industry in 1965 and Minister of Law and Justice in the cabinet of Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa and was a member of this until 1967. He later served as Chairman of the National Assembly (Rastriya Panchayat) between 1972 and 1973 .

On July 16, 1973, the non-party Rijal Kirti Nidhi Bista took over as Prime Minister of Nepal and held this office until he was replaced by Tulsi Giri on December 1, 1975. On March 21, 1986, he took over the office as the successor of Lokendra Bahadur Chand of the Prime Minister, which he handed over to Marich Man Singh Shrestha almost three months later on June 15, 1986 . In his interim government, he also held the positions of Defense Minister and Minister for Palace Affairs between March and June 1986.
