Kirti Nidhi Bista ( Nepali कीर्तिनिधि विष्ट ; born January 15, 1927 in Thamel, Kathmandu ; † November 11, 2017 in Gyaneshwar, Kathmandu) was a Nepalese politician who was not party to the party from 1969 to 1970, between 1971 and 1973 and again from 1977 to 1979 Was Prime Minister of Nepal .

life and career

Bista was appointed to a government for the first time in 1962 by Prime Minister Tulsi Giri as Minister of Education, Transport and Telecommunications and held this ministerial office until 1964. At the same time, he took over the post of Foreign Minister from Tulsi Giri for the first time in 1963, which he held until he was replaced by Gehendra Bahadur Rajbhandari in 1968. In addition, he was briefly Minister for Agriculture and Land Reforms in 1965 and Deputy Prime Minister in the government of Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa between 1965 and 1968 .

On April 7, 1969, Bista finally succeeded Surya Bahadur Thapa as Prime Minister of Nepal and held this office until his abolition on April 13, 1970. At the same time, he also took over the post of Finance Minister in his cabinet between 1969 and 1970. After the office of Prime Minister was reintroduced on April 14, 1971, Bista took it over again and held it until he was replaced by Nagendra Prasad Rijal on July 16, 1973. In his government he also held the post of Foreign Minister from 1971 to 1972, whereupon Gyanendra Bahadur Karki was his successor. In addition, he served in his cabinet between 1971 and 1973 in personal union as Minister of Finance and Minister of Defense.

Bista was as the successor to Tulsi Giri from September 12, 1977 until his replacement by Surya Bahadur Thapa on May 30, 1979 for the third time Prime Minister. Most recently, in 1979, he briefly took over the post of Foreign Minister from Krishna Raj Aryal.

During the renewed vacancy of the Prime Minister's office, Bista acted from February 1, 2005 to April 25, 2006 as Deputy Chairman of the Royal Council of Ministers.
