Marich Man Singh Shrestha

Marich Man Singh Shrestha ( Nepali मरिचमान सिंह श्रेष्ठ ; * 1942 in Khalanga , Salyan District , Nepal ; † August 15, 2013 in Kathmandu ) was a Nepalese non-party politician who was Prime Minister of Nepal from 1986 to 1990 .

Life

Shrestha was appointed Minister for Water, Energy and Irrigation in 1979 by Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa in his cabinet. After a cabinet reshuffle, he served as Minister of Education from 1980 to 1981 and was then Chairman of the National Assembly (Rastriya Panchayat) between 1981 and 1985 .

On June 15, 1986, Shrestha Nagendra Prasad Rijal replaced as Prime Minister of Nepal and held this office until April 6, 1990, whereupon Lokendra Bahadur Chand succeeded him.
