Private

Debrah Ann Miceli was born in Milan but grew up without parents in various homes and foster families in Minneapolis . In her childhood and youth she was a gymnast and track and field athlete. She then began wrestling and was trained by Eddie Sharkey and Brad Rheingans , among others .

In June 1997 she met the NFL player Ken Blackman , whom she married on January 14th. The couple lived in Cincinnati and Homosassa , Florida. Together they opened a motorcycle shop. Her clients included NFL players Kimo von Oelhoffen , Darnay Scott , Bradford Banta and Dan Wilkinson . However, the couple later separated. She has been married to a sergeant major in the United States Army since June 25, 2011 . The couple live in Memphis .

Wrestling career

American Wrestling Association (1986-1989)

In 1984, at the age of 20, Debrah Ann Miceli began her wrestling career in the independent market, where she competed for five dollars a match. In 1986 she came to the American Wrestling Association (AWA), where she took up the role of Madusa Miceli ("Madusa" was a play on Medusa and was an acronym for "Made in the USA"). Her first feud was with Sherri Martel . When she left the AWA, Miceli replaced her as manager from Kevin Kelly . On December 27, 1987, she was allowed to win the AWA World Women's Championship in a tournament final against Candi Devine . She lost the title to Wendi Richter almost a year later . During this time she also acted as the manager of Curt Hennig . This was followed by some time in the Stable Diamond Exchange around Diamond Dallas Page and the Badd Company tag team . Together with Badd Company, she competed in the only AWA pay-per-view SuperClash III , which also featured the Women's Championship. In 1988, Miceli became the first female wrestler to receive the Rookie of the Year award from Pro Wrestling Illustrated .

All Japan's Pro Wrestling (1989-1991)

In 1989 Miceli went to Japan for a six week tour. There she was allowed to win the IWA women's title from Chigusa Nagayo , only to lose it the next day. She liked it so much in Japan that she stayed there for two years and, in addition to the Japanese wrestling style, also gained experience in muay thai , boxing and kickboxing . She was the first foreign female wrestler to sign a three-year contract with All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling. She also worked for the TWA, where she had her first fights with her long-time "rival" Luna Vachon .

World Championship Wrestling (1991-1993)

In 1991 she returned to the United States, where she signed with World Championship Wrestling . Together with Paul E. Dangerously she built the Stable Dangerous Alliance. There she was with Rick Rude , but was released from the stable at Halloween Havoc 1992 and had a match against Dangerously at Clash of the Champions , which she was allowed to defeat. However, it was her only appearance as a single wrestler.

World Wrestling Federation (1993-1995)

Women's Champion Alundra Blayze in June 1995.

In 1993 the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) took Micelli as a draft horse for their Women's Division after the Women's Championship , which had been inactive since 1990 , had been reactivated. WWF owner Vince McMahon gave her the new ring name Alundra Blayze because he was not ready to acquire the rights to the "Madusa" name.

The first time she won the women's championship on December 13, 1993. For this she defeated Heidi Lee Morgan in a tournament final. Blayze then competed against Bull Nakano . At SummerSlam 1994 she was allowed to defeat the Japanese wrestler, but then lost the title on November 20, 1994 at the Big Egg Wrestling Universe organized by All Japan Women's Pro Wrestling in the Tokyo Dome .

On April 3, 1995, she won the title back on Monday Night Raw . After the victory, she was attacked by Bertha Faye and (in the sense of the storyline ) her nose was broken. She probably needed the free time for a breast augmentation and a nose job. In August 1995, Blayze returned to the ring and lost her title to Faye at SummerSlam. Two months later she won the title back. Subsequently, during her third reign, the WWF ran into financial difficulties and Miceli was released from her contract.

Return to the WCW (1995-2001)

Miceli returned to the WCW. However, the WWF had obviously forgotten that they still held the championship title. She appeared on an episode of Monday Nitro and threw the WWF title in the trash in the presence of Eric Bischoff . This step, to which she felt compelled by Bischoff, ensured that Miceli was on the WWF's blacklist for more than 20 years.

In the WCW she appeared again as Madusa. There she was able to continue her feud with Bull Nakano. Then she fought for the newly established WCW Women's Championship , but lost to Akira Hokuto , who won a tournament for the new title. At The Great American Bash 1997 she was allowed to compete for the title again, but lost in a title vs. Career Match and then took an almost two-year break.

In 1999 she returned and joined the stable team Madness founded by macho man Randy Savage . Afterwards she was not able to compete successfully for the WCW Champion title. She then became the manager of Evan Karagias . In the storyline, he won the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship and then flirted with the Nitro Girls. He was caught by Madusa. In a match against him that was scheduled for Starcade, she became the first woman to win the cruiserweight title. She was allowed to hold this until January 16, 2000, when she lost it to Oklahoma at WCW Souled Out .

Behind the scenes, she became the trainer of the WCW Power Plant , the wrestling school of promotion. During the last few months of WCW, she feuded with Torrie Wilson and Shane Douglas . A match at Fall Brawl, in which she had to take a hard bump , was also her last match for the WCW.

When it became known that Vince McMahon was going to take over WCW, she decided to step out of her contract and left the wrestling business entirely.

Return to WWE (since 2015)

After the differences with the WWE were resolved, Miceli was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015 . Natalya gave the address . During the speech that followed, the WWE Women's Belt was symbolically removed from a garbage can.

She then appeared in several shows. So she had a guest appearance at Wrestlemania 2015 and appeared on January 27, 2016 at Table for 3 together with Ivory and Molly Holly . In September 2017, the WWE Network released the documentary TrailBlayzer , which deals with her entire career.

Outside of wrestling

While still active as a wrestler, she trained as a monster truck driver under Dennis Anderson . She first appeared in 1999 in the Trans World Dome . Shortly thereafter, she bought her own truck, which she named after her stage name MadUSA , the rights of which she still owned. Her active career began with the end of her wrestling career, first in freestyle events, then also in professional competitions. In 2004 she was runner-up at the Monster Jam World Finals , in 2005 she won the tournament, making her the first woman to win the tournament. In the same year she was also the only female participant.

In 2008 she became Executive Vice President of the Major League of Monster Trucks .
