Maglód [ mɒgloːd ] is a Hungarian town in the district of Vecsés in Pest County .
Geographical location
Maglód is about 25 kilometers east of the center of the Hungarian capital Budapest . Neighboring communities are Ecser , Gyömrő and Pécel .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1352. During the Turkish wars and the Rákóczi freedom struggle , the village was devastated and then settled again by Slovak serfs. The most important historical event: this is where the parents of the greatest Hungarian national poet, Sándor Petőfi, met. Maglód received the city title on July 1, 2007. The population has almost doubled in the past decade. Most of the residents work in Budapest.

The main road No. 31 and the Budapest M0 ring road run right on the edge of the city. Maglód is closely connected to Budapest by rail and bus services. Budapest Ostbahnhof can be reached in 30 minutes by train.
