Hofheim, Main Taunus School

The Main-Taunus-Schule is a high school in Hofheim am Taunus .

history

The grammar school was founded in 1956 as the first higher school in the Main-Taunus district . Before that, students in the district had to commute to Frankfurt am Main , Wiesbaden , Mainz or Rüsselsheim . After a few years, the school had 2,500 students, which is why teaching was carried out in branches in addition to the main building. A branch in Bad Soden am Taunus developed into the second grammar school in the Main-Taunus district, the Albert Einstein School , which is now located in Schwalbach am Taunus . In 1974 the Main-Taunus-Schule became an upper secondary school . Since 1987, pupils from grade 5 have been taught again.

In the Main-Taunus-Schule, the promotion of athletic talents is of particular importance, which is why the school was awarded the title "Partner School for Competitive Sports" by the Hessian Ministry of Culture. In the youth training for the Olympics , the boys' volleyball team achieved 1st place in 2012 and 2nd place in Germany in 2013. Six high school students took part in the 2013 school world championship in beach volleyball .

Comenius project

The Main-Taunus-Schule has been involved in Comenius projects since 1998 . In August 2012 the project "Sustainable Mobility: Considerations of the Current Situation, Tasks for the Future" was started in the school.

Mint school

The school has been MINT-EC certified since 2006 . The decisive factor for this was the above-average level of math and science classes. The school repeatedly emerges with well-known scientific research projects, something like a research project on the energy efficiency of LED tubes. In 2010 the Main-Taunus-Schule received the MINT Award.

Bilingual train

Since 2006 the school has had a German-English bilingual train, in which the subjects geography, biology, history as well as politics and economics are taught in English. The school wants to set "a future-oriented focus in the context of foreign language teaching". At the end of the sixth grade, the school determines the pupils for bilingual lessons as part of a special consultation process in which an appropriate selection is made. The students in the bilingual train receive a certificate from the school with their Abitur certificate and can acquire a Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English .
