action

Ina Schmidt, a multiple award-winning cook and head chef in a Berlin luxury hotel, can assert herself very well in her male-dominated professional world: none of her employees can hold a candle to her professionally. As a "lone fighter", Ina, who lives alone, has no other friends either: Her professional deputy Norbert Jung constantly tries to take advantage of her. Ina even has a rather cool contact with her own mother. Only the driver Tercan, whom she meets from time to time, is able to give her quick-witted answers at her level.

One day Tercan picks up groceries that the hotel no longer needs and has written off. Ina learns that this, actually still intact, food is being brought to the “barque” by Tercan, a facility that has made it its mission to offer socially disadvantaged young people a platform where they can exchange ideas and eat can.

That arouses Ina's interest. In the social institution, she meets the eleven-year-old, cheeky and unbelievable Mandy Wittmann, who tells of her great dream of being able to go to the sea once in a lifetime. Impressed by the previously unfamiliar world, Ina offers to hold a cooking course for the children at the facility, where they can learn to eat healthily and cheaply. As a result, Ina and Mandy get to know each other better and even become close friends. Due to this newly formed friendship with Ina, Mandy begins to open up and describes Ina for the first time the world in which she grows up. Mandy only describes the good and obviously wants to give the impression that she is growing up in an ideal world, in which everything runs smoothly. At first Ina only suspects that Mandy is not telling the complete truth.

As the story progresses, Ina realizes that Mandy is growing up under miserable circumstances. Mandy's father is an alcoholic, her mother has severe depression, and all of the chores such as household chores and shopping rests on Mandy's shoulders.

Ina decides to help Mandy out of this situation. However, this happens with unforeseeable consequences.
