Manfred Krauss

Manfred Krauss (* 1939 ) is a German professor of information technology and former rector of the Technical University of Chemnitz .

Life

Manfred Krauß studied control engineering at the Karl-Marx-Stadt University of Mechanical Engineering from 1957 to 1963 . He then worked as a scientific assistant at the local institute for electrical engineering. In 1967 he received his doctorate with the topic: Contribution to the theory of the optimization of disturbed linear transmission channels: Taking into account the optimal transmission of information . His habilitation thesis in 1970 was on the topic: On some problems of the transmission of continuous information via disturbed linear systems .

From 1974 to 1977 Krauss worked in managerial positions in the VEB Booking Machine Plant Karl-Marx-Stadt . In 1977 he was appointed professor for information technology / signal and system theory . From 1978 he acted as director of the information technology section. Manfred Krauss was rector of the TH Karl-Marx-Stadt from 1982 to 1989. During his tenure, he was awarded the status of a technical university in 1986.

On July 10, 1989, Krauss was made an honorary senator of the TU Chemnitz. In 1991 Manfred Krauss retired from university.
